Parents, grandparents, babysitters and caregivers – a new series of free Active Parenting First Five Years classes resumes in July  for Globe-Miami and also Hayden-Winkelman.   Globe-Miami sessions are Tuesdays from 6:00 - 7:30 p.m. (including pizza) July 15, 22, 29 and Aug. 5, meeting in the Peridot Conference Room at Cobre Valley Regional Medical Center.

Arizona Youth Partnership educators teach the classes, which are sponsored by First Things First.  Classes are designed for parents and caregivers of children from birth to age 5, there’s no income limit for enrollees – the only requirement is that participants must live in Gila County. Participants who complete all four classes add to their parenting tool kit; you’ll also earn a free child’s car seat, diapers and a $25 Walmart gift card. Learn what a baby’s cry means, ages and stages of development, a child’s growing brain, using mindfulness to keep your cool, effective discipline young children can understand – and ways to prepare a child for school success.
