About the Event

Azurite and amethyst, peridot, chrysocolla, malachite and turquoise – Gila County boasts a breathtaking variety of dazzling minerals and gems! October birthstone, tourmaline, occurs in the Pinal Mountains! November birthstone topaz is also found in Arizona and December’s signature stone – turquoise – is locally famous due to the deposit in Sleeping Beauty mountain.

Saturday Nov. 4  from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. visit with Gila County rockhounds and gem collectors -- find unique gifts and birthstones -- even learn to make your own wire-wrapped gemstone pendant or a rock-covered copper tree (a unique personal gifts)!  Socialize over popcorn and a drink during Saturday’s open house and fall sale hosted by Gila County Gem and Mineral Society members Event will be outdoors in the parking lot near Oasis Insurance, 411 West Live Oak Street in Miami (Highway 60).   Learn how to do basic wire wrap jewelry; if you have a stone or a crystal suitable for a pendant or earring, bring it and learn the technique. There is no charge for wire-wrapping instruction and activity -- but donations are most welcome.
