About the Event
How did Miami, Claypool and Globe become famous for breathtakingly lovely roadside displays of Mexican Goldpoppies? Learn how -- and maybe even "get your hands dirty" making poppyseed balls!
April 12, starting at 6:30 p.m. at Bullion Plaza Cultural Center & Museum in Miami https://www.facebook.com/BullionPlazaCulturalCenterMuseum
This event is FREE -- and part of April's colorful Poppy Fest series here in Miami, Globe - and the neighboring San Carlos Apache reservation.
"What's the difference between the California and Mexican Goldpoppy? Come and find out!" invites the Second Friday evening guest speaker Chris Jones, UA's Gila County Cooperative Extension Agent. "Poppies have been 'a 'thing' in the Miami/Globe area practically since this area became communities. Each spring, the wild poppies cover our roadways and hillsides. Learn a bit about the heritage of poppies in our hometown, and how we can all be a part of continuing this legacy. How did poppies become such a part of our area's culture? How can we help plant more poppies? Please bring your own old-timer stories about the Highway 60 poppies, and be ready to get your hands dirty when we make poppy seed balls!"
** First Friday presentations each month at the Bullion Plaza Cultural Center & Museum are always free - but donations are welcome. See photos and learn more about exhibits at Bullion Plaza Cultural Center & Museum in Miami https://www.facebook.com/BullionPlazaCulturalCenterMuseum
