About the Event
Globe-Miami will be in the state spotlight in two weeks when Local First Arizona brings the 16th Annual Rural Policy Forum to Bullion Plaza in Miami. More than 300 rural leaders and stakeholders are expected to convene for two days of sessions, receptions, hands-on workshops and keynote presentations. Hosted in a different town or city each year, this event connects rural economic development professionals, community leaders, business owners, nonprofits, and other rural stakeholders and advocates interested in sustaining rural communities. Participants will learn strategies from national experts and hear success stories from around Arizona that will give our rural leaders the tools, resources, and relationships they need to face current challenges. Arizona’s Rural Policy Forum provides skills-building, networking, relationship development, and sharing of best practices and lessons learned relevant to the needs and services in rural Arizona. Activities include capacity-building sessions, networking receptions, and focused breakouts, such as the funders’ roundtable, where rural communities and nonprofits can connect their visionary projects and local needs to grant-makers who are potential future partners. * Building an entrepreneurial ecosystem Optional activities include a Wednesday tour from 12:00 – 5:00 pm highlighting successes and projects such as Besh Ba Gowah Park & Museum and also Globe’s new aquatic complex; the Hill Street School Housing Project, Gila County Provisional Community College District – Globe/Miami Regional Training Center; Pin Drop Travel Trailers and Downtown Miami. A Thursday evening forum celebration dinner will include food trucks and live music, “and a taste of the copper corridor’s best wines” (tickets are $35 plus fees).
The Arizona Rural Policy Forum, presented by Local First Arizona and the Arizona Rural Development Council, connects rural economic development professionals, nonprofits, community leaders, business owners, and other rural stakeholders who are interested in sustaining rural communities.
