Copper mining companies and affiliate contractors, engineers – other businesses and schools host a morning dedicated to STEM activities for youth. Get involved, as an exhibitor or volunteer! Gila County Schools Superintendent’s Office Event Coordinator Vanessa Barajas invites past years’ exhibitors and new ones as well  to email and request a sign-up form (vbarajas@gilacountyaz.gov) or call her office 928-402-8788 or 928-961-2417 cell. The event is April 26 at the EAC Gila Pueblo College campus in Globe, Saturday morning from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. Organizers provide chairs, tables, shade tents, water – and power, if electricity is needed. “STEM is an acronym that stands for Science, Technology Engineering and Math; interactive exhibits and hands-on activities in recent years shone a spotlight on copper companies that offer promising careers in these fields, such as Capstone, BHP and Freeport,” said Gila County School Superintendent of Schools Roy Sandoval. “Health care providers are invited to host educational exhibits and booths, other local industries as well -- and we also welcome the Globe, Miami and San Carlos school district staff to join us and feature each of their unique curricula for science, technology engineering and math.”
